The mission of the Parks and Community Services Department is to plan, facilitate, promote, maintain, and develop activities and facilities that enhance the quality of life in Merced.
City Park Hours of Operation
Our City parks are open daily for everyone to enjoy! To help keep our parks safe and comfortable for all visitors, use is allowed during the following seasonal hours:
- March 1 – October 31: Parks are open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- November 1 – February 28/29: Parks are open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Being in a park outside of these hours requires an approved permit from the City.
Exceptions
Some activities and facilities may remain open later. Most activities that are allowed in parks after hours are permitted with some exceptions. Examples of authorized use outside of seasonal hours include:
- City-organized events
- Permit Holders in fields with stadium-style lighting
- Bike and pedestrian paths used for walking, biking, running, or jogging
- Specific recreation facilities being used while their lights are on and rules are being followed
