The Citizen’s Advisory Focus Group serves as an advisory body to the City Council on matters having to do with the preparation of the Comprehensive General Plan Update (GP) and the Downtown Station Area Plan (DSAP).  In forming the CAFG, it is the intent of the City Council to gain a diverse insight and set of opinions into the areas of study for the GP/DSAP. The CAFG will provide guidance and feedback to ensure the GP/DSAP are in line with community needs and priorities, as well as make recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.

The CAFG consists of up to seventeen registered City of Merced voting members. Six (6) voting members of the commission shall be from the established City Council voting districts, on member shall be appointed at large, two members are from the City Council, one to two members are Planning Commissioners and one member each from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, the Building and Housing Board of Appeals, the Arts and Culture Advisory Commission, the Recreation and Parks Commission and the Regional Airport Authority.   They will serve up to approximately a two-year term of office, most of the work occurring over the first 18 months.  Regular meetings are expected to be held every month to every other month at 6 pm or arranged by the CAFG. They are expected to meet about seven times.  This position may require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interests under the California Fair Political Practices Act guidelines.
