Merced Police Department Conducts Tobacco Compliance Inspections

Two businesses cited for multiple violations

Officers with the Merced Police Department conducted tobacco license compliance inspections on Monday, May 11th.  The inspections are funded through a grant from the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act of 2016 Proposition 56. 

The following businesses were inspected for compliance with their tobacco license:

  • No Limit Smoke Shop, 200blk W Main St
  • Zen Smoke Shop 100blk W Main St

No Limit Smoke Shop was cited for multiple violations including: no business license posted, selling single cigarettes, selling drug paraphernalia, and selling flavored tobacco.

Zen Smoke Shop was cited for multiple violations including: selling flavored tobacco, no invoices readily available, and selling drug paraphernalia.

Both businesses will require reinspection to ensure compliance with their tobacco licensee requirements.

More operations are planned throughout the grant period that runs through June 30, 2028.
